Foals still after Sonck

Borussia Monchengladbach are still hoping to sign Ajax striker Wesley Sonck.

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed that they are still hoping to sign Ajax striker Wesley Sonck.

The struggling Bundesliga outfit had originally hoped to bring the Belgium international star to the Borussia Park on loan.

But Foals sport director Christian Hochstatter has now revealed that they are prepared to buy Sonck out of his current contract in Amsterdam.

"We have agreed terms with Ajax but are still negotiating with the player," Hochstatter said.

It is believed that Gladbach are prepared to pay a fee of around ‚é¼4 million for the 26-year-old forward.

Gladbach have spent the Bundesliga winter break in a disappointing 15th place in the table but new coach Dick Advocaat is hopeful that Sonck can link up with new signings Jorg Bohme and Craig Moore to help lift the club out of relegation trouble in the spring.
