Wesley Sonck must undergo groin surgery and will not play again this term.Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach received another blow in their attempts to avoid relegation when learning that Belgian international Wesley Sonck must undergo groin surgery.
The Belgian striker has been plagued by groin problems ever since he joined the Foals from Ajax during the winter transfer window and a recent medical check-up revealed that he can no longer avoid the operation which will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
The five-times German champions are currently enjoying a turbulent time as coach Dick Advocaat and director of sport Christian Hochstatter resigned last week when Horst Koppel and Peter Pander took over.
Interim boss Koppel recorded a goalless draw at fellow relegation strugglers Nurnberg on Sunday, but the Foals remain only two points ahead of the bottom three ahead of next week's vital home tie against Stuttgart.
