Borussia Monchendgladbach have fined out-of-favour striker Giovane Elber.Borussia Monchengladbach have fined out-of-favour striker Giovane Elber for public criticism of the club's management.
The former Bayern Munich and Lyon star has been handed an official reprimand and fined é¼10,000 after slamming coach Horst Koppel in an interview with Bild.
Koppel has left Elber out of his squad in recent weeks claiming that the Brazilian has not fully recovered from his long-term shin problems, but the player feels that he has been harshly treated by the club.
"I'm fit. The trainer should tell the truth. He told me he wasn't picking for tactical reasons. His problem is that he doesn't see what's going on on the pitch," Elber fumed.
"The worst thing is that I've recovered from a bad injury and now people start saying I'm injured again when I'm not."
Foals' sport director Peter Pander reacted swiftly to Elber's comments, imposing the heavy fine and warning the player about his future conduct.
"We simply can't allow a player to make such comments in public. I expect him to make a public apology," he said.
