Swedish full-back pens new deal with Copenhagen

Oscar Wendt has brought an end to any uncertainty surrounding his future by signing a new contract with FC Copenhagen. Several clubs were believed to be keen on landing the Sweden international this summer. However, the 23-year-old full-back has opted to prolong his stay with the Danish champions. "It feels natural," he told the club's official website. "I have always liked it at FC Copenhagen. We have a really good team and we will soon qualify for the Champions League. I look forward to that." The news that Wendt has penned a two-year extension will come as a blow to those who saw him as an ideal option to solve their problems at left-back. "Oscar has developed a lot at the club and has performed at a high level for some time," said Copenhagen's sporting director Carsten Jensen. "He came to us as a talent but has now established himself as a starting player. "Clubs like Juventus, Werder Bremen and Tottenham have all had a look for a left-back, but he likes it in Denmark and has chosen to stay."
