Steven Berghuis scored twice as Feyenoord rebounded from back-to-back defeats with a sparkling 4-0 victory over AZ to climb to second in the Eredivisie.
After losing at home to NAC Breda and then away to Napoli in the Champions League in midweek, Feyenoord seized their chance to atone in Alkmaar.
Berghuis fired an impressive 11th-minute opener, with his powerful left-footed volley from 15 yards bouncing down off the underside of the crossbar and over the line.
The ball had shot back up onto the bar and out, with Tonny Vilhena making sure by bundling into the back of the net, but the goal was credited to Berghuis.
Sam Larsson added the second six minutes later, capping a fine run with an unstoppable 20-yard drive, before Berghuis drilled in a low strike from similar range in the 41st minute. Vilhena tapped in for the game's fourth goal in the 58th minute.
Ajax also won 4-0 away from home on Sunday, with Heerenveen their victims as they denied the hosts a chance to nudge ahead of Feyenoord.
David Neres struck in the 38th and 41st minutes, both times after strike partner Klaas Jan Huntelaar fed the ball into his path. Lasse Schone added a 75th-minute penalty before Max Wober scrambled home a messy fourth seven minutes from time. Ajax are sixth in the Eredivisie after a stuttering start to their campaign.
Vitesse came from behind to take a 1-1 draw at home against Utrecht, with Cyril Dessers breaking the deadlock after 69 minutes and Mason Mount levelling seven minutes later.
Vitesse sit third in the table, which PSV Eindhoven continue to lead following their 4-0 win over Willem II on Saturday.
