Pique has picked up the ban due to failing a drugs test after a game against NAC Breda back in February.
The incident arose due to a 'Surinam wonder drink', with Excelsior insisting the player did not intentionally take a prohibited substance.
"It was a drink to clean his bowels," Excelsior director Simon Kelder told Algemeen Dagblad.
"Mitchell did not know what he had drunk. He has not used any type of drugs or narcotics, it is very innocent."
Pique joined Excelsior from Cambuur Leeuwarden last summer and the full-back made 27 appearances in the Eredivisie last season.
