Wins for Twente, AZ, Heerenveen and Sparta

FC Twente maintained their unbeaten start to the season with victory over ADO Den Haag as reigning champions AZ Alkmaar crushed RKC Waalwijk. Heerenveen battled to victory at home to Vitesse Arnhem, while Sparta Rotterdam came from behind to beat Willem II. Blaise Nkufo grabbed a 64th minute winner as Steve McClaren's Twente recorded a 1-0 success at Den Haag. In contrast, AZ were in free-scoring mode as Mounir El Hamdaoui and Maarten Martens both scored twice in a 6-0 thrashing of RKC. El Hamdaoui opened the scoring on 13 minutes, but it was not until the 52nd minute that the second goal arrived courtesy of Moussa Dembele. Midway through the second half, El Hamdaoui scored his second of the night before Martens netted twice and substitute Jeremain Lens scored in the final 15 minutes. Losada's 13th minute goal was enough for Heerenveen to pick up a first win of the Eredivisie season by beating Vitesse 1-0 at home. Sparta also won for the first time this term after overturning a half-time deficit to win 2-1 at home to Willem II. Bart Biemans put Willem II ahead on 16 minutes, but Kevin Strootman levelled on the hour mark and Rydell Poepon grabbed the winner five minutes later.
