Eindhoven boss refuses to take chances with stopper

PSV manager Fred Rutten insists he will not rush defender Marcelo's comeback from injury. The Brazilian picked up a knee problem over two weeks ago against VVV Venlo and has missed PSV's subsequent matches against Willem II and ADO Den Haag. The Eredivisie high-fliers felt Marcelo's absence in the latter encounter, with Rutten's side suffering a 1-0 home defeat. That result allowed nearest rivals FC Twente to join PSV at the top of the table ahead of their trip to AZ Alkmaar this weekend. But despite Marcelo being a key player in his squad, Rutten will not hurry the South American back into action. "We are going to be cautious with him," he told Voetbal International. "Forcing him makes no sense. We will look at it on a day-to-day basis and we will decide on Friday or Saturday whether he is going to play."
