Eindhoven push on; AZ held by Heerenveen

PSV Eindhoven kept their title push on course with triumph over Feyenoord, while nearest rivals AZ Alkmaar dropped two points after drawing at home to Heerenveen. FC Twente remain in the title race after beating Utrecht, while Ajax had no trouble seeing off basement-dwellers Excelsior. Zakaria Labyad scored an 85th-minute winner to sink Feyenoord and maintain PSV Eindhoven's Eredivisie title charge. Labyad struck after Guyon Fernandez had scored twice in eight minutes to bring the visitors back from 2-0 down.

Advantage

Ola Toivonen put the hosts in front a minute before the break and Dries Mertens doubled their advantage midway through the second half, but they still almost managed to let victory slip from their grasp. The win moved PSV seven points ahead of their opponents, who slipped to sixth. A dramatic encounter in Alkmaar saw Heerenveen frustrate AZ in a 3-3 draw, allowing PSV to pull two points clear at the top. Jozy Altidore opened the scoring in the first half then added another after Filip Djuricic pulled one back for Heerenveen. The visitors levelled the scoreline through Bas Dost then went ahead in the 81st minute thanks to a Luciano Narsingh strike. AZ managed to snatch a point when Erik Falkenburg netted seven minutes from time but will be disappointed not to have taken a maximum haul. Luuk de Jong scored the only goal of the game as FC Twente continued to challenge for the title with victory over FC Utrecht. De Jong slotted home his 19th goal of the season from close range on the stroke of half-time as Steve McClaren's side claimed their 13th league victory of the season. However, it was an uninspiring game which left the visitors too close to the drop zone for comfort.
Brace
A brace from Siem de Jong helped Ajax see off a rock-bottom Excelsior 4-1 to maintain their push for UEFA Champions League football next season. Aras Ozbiliz put the champions ahead in the 22nd minute and De Jong added a second on the stroke of half-time. But Excelsior, who had already missed a penalty and had another appeal perhaps harshly deemed to be a dive, got a goal back from Jurgen Mattheij and put the Amsterdammers under pressure before De Jong's second and a late strike from Jan Vertonghen gave Ajax a flattering final scoreline.
