The 17-year-old is believed to be one of the brightest prospects in Armenia and Ajax are looking to see if he is capable of joining their academy.
Manucharyan, who has made waves with Pyunik, will arrive in Amsterdam this week and will be given a fortnight to prove himself to the club's paymasters.
It is believed that if Manucharyan lives up to his billing, he will be incorporated into their academy for the remainder of the season before being handed a permanent contract in the summer.
Ajax director Arie van Eijden issued a note of caution, though, as he told VI.nl: "We want to take a look at the youngster in Amsterdam. But it is too early to be drawing conclusions."
Ajax, meanwhile, are believed to be ready to use Abubakari Yakubu as bait in their bid to sign Denny Landzaat from AZ.
The Amsterdammers are keen to bring Dutch international midfielder Landzaat back to the club, but have been told by AZ that it will take a huge offer to tempt them to sell.
Ajax coach Ronald Koeman is aware his AZ counterpart Co Adriaanse is an admirer of Yakubu and may offer him in a part-exchange deal.
