Rafael van der Vaart has been ruled out of Ajax's Uefa Cup clash at Auxerre.Rafael van der Vaart has been ruled out of Ajax's Uefa Cup clash at Auxerre on Thursday.
Ajax head to France with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg, but they will have to protect their position without the services of van der Vaart who has been laid low by a bout of sickness.
Coach Ronald Koeman may opt to field Wesley Sneijder as a direct replacement for van der Vaart after the teenager shook off his hamstring injury in order to travel.
Koeman is also without injured quartet Steven Pienaar, Hans Vonk, Zdenek Grygera and Tomas Galasek and the ineligible Angelos Charisteas.
Denny Landzaat, meanwhile, appears to be winning his battle to be fit for AZ Alkmaar's meeting with Alemannia Aachen.
Landzaat's place in the team had been plunged into doubt when he picked up a knock against Roda at the weekend, but he trained on Wednesday and is hopeful of playing provided his ankle shows no adverse reaction overnight.
Ruud Gullit's Feyenoord are struggling with injuries ahead of their meeting with Sporting and the coach has added 19-year-old Mark van de Boogart to his squad as cover for injured troika Christian Gyan, Patrick Mtiliga and Pascal Bosschaart.
