AZ deny star sales

AZ Alkmaar have denied that several star players will be sold in the summer.

AZ Alkmaar chairman Dirk Scheringa has warned the rest of Europe that he will not be selling all the club's star players in the summer.

The Dutch outfit have exceeded all expectations this season and are currently placed behind only PSV Eindhoven in the table.

Several of AZ's players have been linked with moves away from Almaarder Hout, with Denny Landzaat (pictured), Joris Mathijsen and Jan Kromkamp thought to be at the head of several shopping lists for the summer.

However, Scheringa has now moved to reassure the club's supporters that there will not be wholesale changes - unless huge sums are paid.

Scheringa concedes that Landzaat could well be on his way at the season's close but that it is likely that of the aforementioned trio, the Holland international will be the only departure.

''Kromkamp has to bring in ‚é¼15 million, Landzaat ‚é¼12 million and Mathijsen at least ‚é¼10 million,'' he told vi.nl.

''Soon Landzaat turns 29, I understand that he wants to go to a foreign club. And now that can still happen.

''But there won't be more than one.''
