With PSV Eindhoven seemingly cantering to victory in the Eredivisie, the fight for second place is a battle between Ajax, Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar.
Ajax have found some form in the last fortnight and they produced a stirring display to claim the spoils in Rotterdam.
The game burst into life just after the interval as Salomon Kalou put Feyenoord ahead.
Ajax fashioned a response, with the in-form Nigel de Jong levelling the match shortly before the hour.
The Kuip supporters were on their feet ten minutes from time as Dirk Kuyt netted what he thought was the winner for Feyenoord.
However, Ajax regrouped and Zdenek Grygera found a leveller four minutes from time. There was still time for a winner and it was Ajax who found the all-important goal, with Hedwiges Maduro netting in injury time.
AZ failed to match Ajax, as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by NAC Breda. Tarik Sektioui gave AZ an early lead, but Ali Boussaboun secured a point for the visitors when netting 20 minutes from time.
PSV extended their lead at the top of the table, as Roberto de Souza's effort on 62 minutes earned the champions elect a 1-0 win at Willem II. Guus Hiddink's men are 14 points clear and can claim the title next week.
Goals from Dmirti Shoukov and Peter Niemeyer earned Twente a 2-1 win over NEC Nijmegen, with the visitors' reply coming from Thijs Hendriks.
Den Bosch remain rooted to the foot of the table, with an Erik Nevland brace earning Groningen a 2-1 win on their travels.
