AZ kept their hopes of catching Ajax alive with a 2-1 win over Groningen.AZ Alkmaar kept their hopes of catching Ajax for second place alive with a 2-1 win over Groningen, while Feyenoord were beaten at home by Heerenveen.
AZ's domestic form has dipped of late, but they bounced back against Groningen on Sunday.
Olaf Lindenbergh put the home side ahead on 16 minutes, with Adil Ramzi handing them a cushion 15 minutes from time.
Erik Nevland set up a tense finish when netting with four minutes left on the clock, but AZ held firm to take the points.
A brace of goals from Mika Vayrynen set Heerenveen on their way to three points at Feyenoord.
Feyenoord, who still had hopes of catching Ajax, were briefly level thanks to a goal from Dirk Kuyt, but Vayrynen's second was added to by Petter Hansson as the Rotterdam side were stunned on home soil.
Vitesse Arnhem came from a goal down to beat RKC Waalwijk 3-1.
