The visitors survived a scare coming from a goal down to take all three points.

Ricky van den Bergh gave Sparta the lead on 19 minutes, but Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt drew his side level right on the stroke of half time.

Sebastian Pardo fired Feyenoord in front eight minutes after the break and Hossam Ghaly made sure of the victory with the third on 57 minutes.

The win lifts Feyenoord to the top of the table after two games in De Eredivisie.

Van Galen netted the winner 16 minutes from time with his second goal of the contest.

RKC Waalwijk kept pace with the top two as they maintained their 100 percent record with a 2-1 win at home to Groningen.

Rasmus Lindgren gave Groningen a surprise lead on 29 minutes, but second half goals from Benjamin De Ceulaer (48) and Maarten Martens (75) turned the game in RKC's favour.
