PSV cemented their position as the top side in Dutch football with a win over Ajax.PSV Eindhoven cemented their position as the premier side in Dutch football with a 1-0 win over Ajax.
Ajax have been in the shadows of PSV of late and they were forced to head away from the Philips Stadion with nothing on Sunday.
The decisive moment came on ten minutes, with Timmy Simons netting from the penalty spot.
Ajax failed to fashion an equaliser and now sit eight points adrift of PSV.
AZ Alkmaar kept pace with PSV with a resounding 5-1 home win over struggling Willem II.
Tarik Sektioui set the tone with the opener on four minutes, but Willem II hauled themselves level on 18 minutes through Germain Agustien.
AZ went in front at the break, as Denny Landzaat netted from the penalty spot and Kenneth Perez handed them a cushion on 52 minutes.
Willem II pushed forward in search of a goal and AZ took advantage of the space to put a gloss on the scoreline in the final ten minutes, Martijn Meerdink and Gretar Steinsson getting themselves on the scoresheet.
Feyenoord suffered only their second defeat of the season, going down in agonising fashion at RKC Waalwijk.
Maarten Meerdink fired RKC ahead on 32 minutes, but they were pegged back ten minutes from time when Romeo Castelen added to his already impressive tally of goals.
Feyenoord were left deflated as Virgilio Teixeira popped up in injury time to hand RKC the three points.
