The Dutch camp resembled a field hospital on Monday as Phillip Cocu, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Wesley Sneijder joined Rafael van der Vaart and Kew Jaliens in the treatment room following a bruising friendly with Australia.
Van Basten called on Hamburg star De Jong and AZ Alkmaar youngster Schaars while his medical team attended to the walking wounded and they impressed during training.
However, the injured quintet proved their fitness to van Basten on Friday morning and this prompted the coach to inform Fifa there would be no changes to his initial 23.
The Dutch start their campaign against Serbia and Montenegro in Leipzig on Sunday.
