Feyenoord dropped points in their title challenge as they lost 3-2 to leave themselves fourth in the standings, six points behind leaders PSV.
However, Koeman has spotted an opportunity with PSV midfielder Mark van Bommel missing this weekend's match thanks to his yellow card in last Saturday's 2-1 win over FC Utrecht.
"Van Bommel missing out is a plus, especially with his experience in big games," the Feyenoord coach told vi.nl.
"The fact that he is not playing might be an advantage for us, but we should really win the games ourselves."
Koeman also back his team to get over last weekend's loss, which kept them behind PSV, Ajax and FC Twente.
He said: "In this competition, it differs every week who is and who isn't in the title race.
"If we want something, we have to beat PSV. You can take positive things from the 3-2 defeat at Zwolle. We have been resilient and have countless opportunities."
Feyenoord have received a double boost ahead of the game as both Jordy Clasie and defender Stefan de Vrij have returned to training and could be back in contention for the match.
Ajax will return to league action against ADO Den Haag after facing Steaua Bucharest in the second leg of their Europa League round-of-32 tie on Thursday.
While a Thursday night European game is not ideal preparation for a league fixture three days later, Ajax coach Frank de Boer is pleased to still be fighting on three fronts - in the Europa League, Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup.
He told the club's official website: "Seventy percent of the players can handle a game every three or four days. But players who have just come back from an injury, such as Isaac Cuenca and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Viktor Fischer, might not.
"We look at (player fatigue) from match to match."

Zwolle, VVV Venlo play at home to RKC Waalwijk and Heerenveen face Twente.
Utrecht host Roda JC on Sunday while AZ Alkmaar are in action against NAC Breda.
