The Rotterdam side are now second in the Eredivisie, behind Vitesse Arnhem, and this away victory will be a major boost to confidence.
An own-goal by Peter Wisgerhof on 24 minutes set Feyenoord on their way, and strikes either side of half-time by Brett Emerton all but sealed victory.
On 66 minutes, Wisgerhof went some way to atoning for his earlier error, by putting the ball in the right net, but Feyenoord held firm for the remainder of the game.
This defeat ended NEC`s 12-game unbeaten run.
A second away win of the afternoon went to Ajax, who travelled to NAC Breda and came away with a 3-0 victory.
A brace by Finnish ace Petri Pasanen, after 17 and 50 minutes, and a last-minute effort by Shota Arveladze (pictured) gave the Amsterdam side all the points.
In Sunday`s other game, a Zeljko Petrovic strike after 12 minutes, gave RKC Waalwijk a 1-0 home win over De Graafschap.
