Australian ace Didulica suffered ligament damage and a bone injury to his ankle in a training session last month, and has definitely been ruled out of the season opener.
Romanian ace Lobont filled the breach and performed well in a number of friendlies.
However, his participation in the opening game with Utrecht has been plunged into doubt after he picked up a shoulder problem during training, and will have an MRI scan on Friday.
If the scan reveals a serious problem, Ajax boss Ronald Koeman may make a reluctant raid on the transfer market.
Koeman was confident during the summer that Didulica and Lobont would be good enough for the Eredivisie champions, but with third choice Maarten Stekelenburg aged only 20, other cover at the Amsterdam ArenA may be required.
Stekelenburg will get a chance to impress during the Amsterdam tournament, with Koeman expected to make a decision on whether to make a signing at some point next week.
