Ajax off to winning start

Matthew Amoah opened the scoring for the hosts on 13 minutes before Purrel Frankel put through his own net just nine minutes later.
Striker Wesley Sneijder (pictured) was the hero for the Amsterdam giants as he got the all important winner with just minutes to spare to get Ronald Koeman's men off to a winning start in the new season.
Feyenoord also kicked off their season with a win as they saw off a late assault from NEC Nijmegen to win 2-1 at De Kuip.
Danko Lazovic made it 1-0 seven minutes after the interval before Thomas Buffel doubled the lead with just under 20 minutes to go.
Nijmegen piled on the pressure late on and pulled one back through Rob Wielaert on the stroke of full-time but it was not enough.
FC Groningen recorded a 1-0 win over NAC Breda thanks to a goal from defender Regillio Vrede and Heerenveen were successful on their travels as they managed a 1-0 win over FC Volendam at Veronica Stadion thanks to a Stefan Selakovic penalty after half-an-hour.
Utrecht also ran out 1-0 winners over FC Zwolle thanks to a goal from Patrick Zwaanswijk on 18 minutes.
