Ajax reclaimed their place at the top of Eredivisie thanks to late goals from Wesley Sonck and Nicolae Mitea as they beat FC Groningen 3-1 at Oosterpark Stadion.
Ronald Koeman's men looked to be heading for a draw until the Belgian international scored with eight minutes remaining and Mitea added a third at the final whistle.
Groningen were in front courtesy of Arvid Smit's opener on 20 minutes but their lead was cancelled out ten minutes later by Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It remained level and Groningen must have thought they had done enough to earn a point until the former Genk star and Romanian scored to send their side back to Amsterdam with all three points.
FC Volendam salvaged a draw against bottom club FC Zwolle courtesy of a Karim Bridji goal 20 minutes from time.
Volendam had taken the lead through Jack Tuyp but Jasar Takak quickly levelled matters.
FYR Macedonia star Georgi Hristov then fired in Zwolle's second on 45 minutes as the club went in search of their first win of the season, but Bridji popped up to level for the home side to leave their opponents still propping up the table.
Goals from Robin van Persie and Anthony Lurling were enough to give Feyenoord all three points as they beat RBC Roosendaal at De Kuip.
Van Persie's effort after 14 minutes and Lurling's second at the death was enough to gain victory and move Feyenoord up one place into fifth.
