The game at Veronica Stadion started with a flurry of goals as Dirk Kuyt fired Feyenoord in front from the spot before Hossein Ouhsaine drew Volendam level shortly afterwards.
Volendam continued to frustrate their loftier placed opponents but were denied a point by two goals in the final ten minutes.
Robin van Persie fired Feyenoord in front before Kuyt notched his second of the game four minutes from time.
Ajax extended their lead at the top of the table with a 4-1 win at ADO.
The Amsterdammers were behind on 16 minutes when Roy Stroeve hit the target, but Johnny Heitinga brought the visitors level.
Ajax came out firing on all cylinders after the break and were rewarded when Wesley Sneijder put them in front.
Later goals by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Victor Sikora put a comfortable look on the scoreline.
Utrecht were rewarded with three points against RKC Waalwijk when Hans van der Haar hit the target on 75 minutes.
Groningen produced a stirring fightback to grab a 3-2 win at NEC Nijmegen.
NEC appeared to be cruising to three points when Frank Demouge and Youssouf Hersi gave them a 2-0 lead at the interval.
However, Groningen fought back bravely and were level within five minutes of the restart.
Sander van Gessel and Brian Pinas hauled them level and the comeback was completed when Antoine van der Linden netted what proved to be the winner on 63 minutes.
