The Frisian club are keen to strengthen their attacking resources and are assessing whether Lurling and Sikora are worthwhile possibilities.
Lurling may not prove to be a viable option for Heerenveen as he recently admitted he wanted to fight for his future at De Kuip.
He also picked up a knee ligament injury earlier this week and may not be an immediate recruit for Heerenveen.
The signs for Sikora are more promising, though, as Ajax are likely to permit the player to leave the Amsterdam ArenA.
Heerenveen chairman Riemer van der Velde said: "It's an interesting option."
Van der Velde also admitted he expects Sweden international Erik Edman to report back for training next week as predicted.
Edman caught the eye of Internazionale for his performances at Euro 2004 but Heerenveen have received no formal offers for the full back.
