Ajax are rumoured to be plotting a move to sign Vitesse youngster Michael Jansen.Ajax are rumoured to be plotting a summer move to sign Vitesse Arnhem youngster Michael Jansen.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye of Ajax coach Danny Blind and could be a summer arrival at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Blind is keen to strengthen his defence and the versatility of Jansen has made him a viable option for the Ajax coach.
Jansen can play at left back and in the centre although Ajax will face a tough battle to persuade Vitesse to do business.
The stopper is contracted to Vitesse until 2006 but the Arnhem club are desperate to prolong Jansen's deal.
Ajax were linked with Jansen earlier in the season and he admits he is flattered to be a target for the Dutch giants.
"As long as I haven't heard anything I don't have to think about it," said Jansen.
"But of course it would be nice if the story would be true."
Meanwhile, Jan Olde Riekerink is tipped to replace Blind as Ajax's head of education at the end of the season.
Blind left the role to take on Ajax's top job and Riekerink is being lined up to return to Amsterdam to replace the former Holland international.
Riekerink, who previously spent seven years working for Ajax, is leaving his post as Emmen coach in the summer and is expected to return to a youth role at the Amsterdam ArenA.
