Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg will be sidelined for two months.Ajax have been dealt a blow with the news that keeper Maarten Stekelenburg will be sidelined for two months with a shoulder injury.
Stekelenburg had fought off competition from Bogdan Lobont to secure the number one jersey at The Amsterdam ArenA, but he will miss the opening exchanges of the season after dislocating his shoulder against Boca Juniors on Sunday.
The Dutch keeper suffered the injury in a sickening collision with team-mate Hatem Trabelsi, having raced off his line to make a clearance.
Stekelenburg's shoulder has been put back into place, but he has been informed that he will need eight weeks of inactivity to alleviate the problem.
Trabelsi was taken to hospital with concussion and has been ruled out for the next week and will miss the clash with PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Super Cup on Friday.
