Feyenoord and Twente Enschede both secured dramatic wins on Wednesday night.
NAC Breda secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over ADO Den Haag at the Zuiderpark.
Anouar Diba opened the scoring on 10 minutes before Sander van Gessel added a second seven minutes into the second period. Vitor Santiago secured the points with ten minutes remaining.
Heracles and Heerenveen had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Lars Nilsson put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time, but in-form Stefan Tanghe levelled the contest with 12 minutes left to play.
PSV Eindhoven maintained a healthy lead at the top of the table thanks to a 2-1 win in Utrecht. Jefferson Farfan (pictured) put the visitors ahead on 21 minutes before Adil Ramzi (49) equalised. As the game looked to be headed for a draw Farfan (78) grabbed his second of the night to secure a well-earned win.
At the Gelredome Twente Enschede struck late to stun the home fans with a 2-1 win. Youssouf Hersi gave Vitesse Arnhem a fifth minute lead but Patrick Gerritsen struck back in the 90th minute before Sharbel Touma sealed an unlikely victory with his winner deep in stoppage time.
Feyenoord moved into second with another late show in Nijmegen. Romano Denneboom gave NEC a 57th minute lead, but Pierre van Hooijdonk (83) levelled affairs and the points were stolen by Dirk Kuyt's 90th minute winner.
Roda JC scored a 1-0 win over RKC Waalwijk thanks to Cristiano's 60th minute winner, while Ajax triumphed over Willem II by a similar scoreline with Markus Rosenberg's 55th minute effort separating the two sides.
