Ajax have booked their place in next season's UEFA Champions League.
Ajax booked their place in next season's UEFA Champions League after beating Grongingen 3-2 on aggregate in the Eredivisie play-off.
The Amsterdam giants were taking a two-goal advantage into the second leg, but after an hour they had lost it.
Erik Nevland bagged the first for the home side just before the interval and 15 minutes into the second half Bruno Silva levelled.
The match looked as if it was heading to added time, but with three minutes left Dutch international Wesley Sneijder struck to break Groningen hearts.
The latter stages became somewhat bad tempered and both teams had players sent off in the last minute as Danny Buijs went off for Groningen and Nourdin Boukhari saw red for Ajax.
Vitesse Arnhem booked their place in the InterToto Cup thanks to a 2-1 win over rivals NEC Nijmegen.
NEC looked to be favourites following a goalless draw in the first leg and their chances improved further when Patrick Pothuizen put them ahead after 28 minutes.
However, Vitesse came back strong and levelled just before the interval when Fred Benson scored.
Vitesse then sealed victory just minutes before the end when Youssouf Hersi fired home.
The final minute mirrored the Groningen-Ajax clash as a man from each side was dismissed, Andrzej Niedzjelan and Richard Knopper both seeing red.
Heerenveen secured their Uefa Cup place with a resounding 5-0 win over Twente which gave them a 6-0 aggregate victory.
Paul Bosvelt opened the scoring before Lasse Nilsson (41 & 55) and Danijel Pranjic (71 pen & 75) helped themselves to braces to seal the win.
