The Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) has called for Ajax striker Luis Suarez to be hit with a seven-match ban.
The Uruguayan forward faces severe disciplinary action after he bit PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal during an Eredivisie fixture on Saturday.
Ajax have already fined Suarez and banned him for two matches, but he could face further punishment.
He has until Wednesday afternoon to respond to the KNVB's proposed penalty.
Should the player or his club decide against an appeal, the matter will be discussed at a hearing on Thursday.
Suarez escaped punishment at the time as the match officials did not see the incident.
Bakkal, though, was left with a mark on his collarbone where he had been bitten and the authorities feel they must act against what they describe as a 'violent act'.
