Highly-rated teenager sets targets for this season

Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen says he wants to become more dominant in midfield and up his goal contribution as he bids to improve this season. The 19-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Premier League over the last two transfer windows, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Amsterdam last term. He has featured regularly for reigning Eredivisie champions Ajax so far this season, scoring once in the 4-1 thrashing of Vitesse. Despite being rated as one of Europe's hottest young prospects, the Denmark international feels there is plenty of room for improvement in his game.

Dominant

"I think I should be more dominant in the field," he told Voetbal International. "That's part of my position and my qualities. "And I still don't score enough." "I'm not a kid anymore. I realise that I need to grow. In modern football midfielders are in great demand." Eriksen took lessons from Ajax's UEFA Champions League opener against Lyon earlier this month. He added: "At the highest stage, I still find that I'm missing some things in my game. "That's not so strange at my age but I am critical of myself."
