The PSV Eindhoven winger suffered a groin injury on Thursday and is rated doubtful for the clash in Oslo.
Coach Morten Olsen is already without Ruben Bagger, Martin Jorgensen and Rene Henriksen for the crunch clash and Rommedahl's likely absence will compound his concerns.
Team doctor Mogens Kreutzfeldt admits they are waiting to discover how Rommedahl responds to treatment before deciding whether the speedy ace will be given the nod.
"Dennis has got a twist in the groin and we gave him lots of treatment," Kreutzfeldt told BT.
"We will now see how it develops but any player who can't take part in practice two days before the match is naturally doubtful."
Danish chief Olsen is confident his squad will be strong enough to cope with the loss of several key players and has added FC Copenhagen midfielder Thomas Roll to the party.
Olsen said: "It's sad for Dennis. We have had some withdrawals in the squad already.
"Though, at the same time, we shall keep in mind that we have got a squad where we can sort out the problems.
"We will now see how things develop when we come to Norway but there is no-one in the squad who I am afraid to field on the pitch."
