PSV too strong for ADO

ADO DEN HAAG were given a taste of what life will be like in De Eredivisie next term, as they were dumped out of the Amstel Cup by PSV Eindhoven.

The leaders of the top two divisions in Holland met on Wednesday, with top-flight pacesetters PSV coming out on top 3-0.

ADO were looking for a good start, but they fell behind on 13 minutes to a Mateja Kezman goal.

Dennis Rommedahl (pictured) added a second just after the half-hour, and the Dane made the game safe with the third on 71 minutes.

PSV will meet Heerenveen in the quarter finals after the Abe Lenstra outfit saw off Stromvogels/Telstar 3-1 on Tuesday.

Tuesday`s other tie saw Utrecht fight back from two goals down to see off De Graafschap 3-2.

Excelsior avoided a potential banana skin by beating Ajax reserves 4-2, with Cecilio Lopes the hero as he netted a brace.

Groningen may be at the wrong end of De Eredivisie, but they proved too strong for Haarlem.  Glen Salmon scored twice in the 3-0 win.
