PSV lose duo

PSV EINDHOVEN`s woes following their Amstel Cup defeat at the hands of Utrecht on Tuesday were increased by season-ending injuries to two players.

Keeper Ronald Waterreus (pictured) and defender Theo Lucius picked up knocks which are expected to keep the two out for the remainder of the Dutch season.

Lucius collided with Patrick Zwaanswijk and PSV`s medical staff believe he has damaged ligaments in his knee.

Lucius only came on as an 83rd-minute substitute, but limped out moments later.

More thorough tests are set to be conducted later in the week, but the early indications are that Lucius will have to concentrate on getting fit for next season.

Waterreus is set to have an operation after aggravating an existing stomach injury.

He has been plagued by the problem since November, but turned out against Utrecht and aggravated the injury.

Waterreus will now go under the knife to cure the problem, with Frank Kooiman set to take over between the posts.
