PSV Eindhoven are being strongly tipped to sign Vitesse Arnhem's Nicky Hofs.PSV Eindhoven are being strongly tipped to sign Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Nicky Hofs in the summer.
The 21-year-old is rated highly at the Gelredome, but they are likely to lose him when his contract expires in the summer after failing to extend his deal last term due to their financial situation.
Hofs seems certain to take advantage of his free-transfer status in the summer, with a move to PSV a distinct possibility.
The one worry for Hofs is that PSV coach Guus Hiddink is rumoured to be looking to loan him out for one season, a decision the midfielder is none too keen on.
However, Hofs could well accept the proposal if Hiddink provides him with assurances that he sees him figuring in his long-term plans.
Vitesse, meanwhile, have admitted disappointment at the prospect of losing Hofs but know they only have themselves to blame.
"At the time (last year), I indicated that we had to keep that boy," Vitesse technical manager Jan Streuer told Voetbal International. "But we had no money within the organisation.
"It saved us money in the short term, as he had a low salary, but in the long term it costs us a lot more."
