PSV can breathe a huge sigh of relief as Alex's knee injury is not serious.PSV Eindhoven can breathe a huge sigh of relief as Alex's knee injury is not serious.
The powerful Brazilian stopper was stretchered from the field of play during Saturday's 1-0 win over Utrecht and manager Guus Hiddink said in his post-match press conference that he feared Alex had suffered serious damage to his knee.
The player underwent a scan on Sunday and it showed no serious damage to the ligaments in his knee.
Alex will definitely miss Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Schalke, but is expected to return to action later in September.
The PSV medical team have arranged a tailored rehabilitation programme which they feel will allow Alex to make a swift return to the first team.
