PSV have ended their search for a new striker by signing Archie Thompson.PSV Eindhoven boss Guus Hiddink has ended his search for a new striker by sealing the loan capture of Australian international Archie Thompson.
The Dutch champions had been haggling over a compensation package with Melbourne Victory for around a week, but finally reached an accord on Thursday.
Thompson swiftly agreed terms over the deal which will see him move to Eindhoven until the summer, at which point PSV will make a decision on whether to make him a permanent addition to their squad.
The deal is the ideal scenario for PSV and Thompson, as the club were in need of a striker after loaning Robert to Real Betis, while the transfer will allow Thompson to hone his match sharpness ahead of the World Cup finals.
Had he stayed at Melbourne, Thompson would have been deprived of match action for four months as the Australian season ends in February.
PSV, meanwhile, have handed new deals to starlets Ismail Aissati and Roy Beerens.
Aissati, who has made giant strides this season and is tipped for big things, has signed on until 2009, while Beerens is now committed to PSV until 2008.
