PSV Eindhoven have expressed an interest in Mexico international Carlos Salcido.

The defender impressed during the World Cup and chairman Rob Westerhof confirmed that PSV were hoping to bring him to the Eredivisie.

"We have good reason to believe that the deal will be completed," Westerhof told the Dutch media.

"We still have to complete some details."

Salcido, who currently plays in his homeland for Guadalajara Chivas, has also been linked with a move to The Premiership.

PSV are also believed to be in negotiations with Slovenian ace Valter Birsa.

The 19-year-old, who was in prolific goalscoring form for club side NK Gornica last term, reportedly wants assurances of first-team football.
