PSV's Michael Lamey wants to appeal against his sending off against Bordeaux.
PSV Eindhoven defender Michael Lamey wants to appeal against his sending off against Bordeaux.
Lamey was dismissed during PSV's 1-0 UEFA Champions League victory in midweek for an alleged elbow on Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
But Lamey has branded the referee's decision 'a scandal' and he is determined to avoid serving a suspension for the red card.
"If I get suspended because of this I would find that a scandal," Lamey told the club's official website.
"I will certainly appeal. I head the ball away, he walks into my back and I see red. I was totally amazed.
"I did not do anything. We both fall to the ground and all of a sudden the referee shows me a red card."
The Dutch champions' coach Ronald Koeman has backed Lamey and felt Chamakh committed the foul.
Koeman said: "I thought it was a foul from the Bordeaux player instead.
"Lamey never had the intention to hit his opponent."
