Wesley Sneijder gave the Amsterdam ArenA crowd something to shout about with the opening goal on 16 minutes before Zdenek Grygera sealed the win with a second goal before half-time.
Roda had no answer to the Amsterdammers after the break, as Ajax try and keep their title hopes alive with Wednesday's win.

Victor Sikora (89) proved NAC's hero with a late winner in the Rat Verlegh Stadion.
Utrecht and Heracles Almelo played out a goalless draw, while strugglers ADO Den Haag and RKC Waalwijk drew 1-1.
RKC claimed the lead through Tim Janssen before Den Haag earned a home point when Santi Kolk struck the equaliser late on.
