PSV Eindhoven midfielder Csaba Feher has hailed his side's dramatic Eredivisie triumph.
AZ Alkmaar, Ajax and PSV started the final day of Holland's league season level on points and each had the title in their grasp at some stage of the afternoon.
But it was PSV who pipped their rivals with a crushing 5-1 victory over Vitesse Arnhem, as AZ lost to Excelsior and Ajax could only claim a 2-0 win at Willem II, leaving their goal difference one less than PSV's.
"It was a thrilling finish, a writer couldn't create a better ending than this," Feher told Hungarian news agency MTI.
"Because of my leg injury I wasn't on the pitch today but I saw that all 40,000 fans had been holding a radio to hear the results of the other games.
"We weren't the favourites to win before the final round as nobody thought that AZ Alkmaar would lose against Excelsior.
"When I heard that Excelsior were leading my blood pressure got higher, so one can imagine how we felt during the 90 minutes with our fans.
"We led the Eredivisie almost all season but had some poor performances at the end and we also needed a lot of luck to win the trophy."
Veteran midfielder Philip Cocu also revealed amid the celebrations that he has played his last game for the club.
The 36-year-old PSV captain, who returned to the club in 2004, is mulling over his future in the game having received a number of offers from foreign clubs.
