Gabor Babos is hoping he can lift the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord this season.Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Babos is hoping he can lift the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord this season.
Babos joined Feyenoord from NAC Breda in the summer and has established himself as first choice in Ruud Gullit's plans.
Feyenoord are currently level on points with PSV Eindhoven at the top of the table and Babos hopes the campaign will finish with the Kuip club crowned as champions.
"After nine rounds, we lead the table but PSV are supposed to get three more points for their unfinished/interrupted game," Babos told www.origo.hu.
"If we continue how we started then this year may be the best period in my career.
"I've got an assured position in the team, I have played all the matches so far and have conceded only eight goals in nine games, which is not bad.
"We have a combative and young team that plays an attacking style. We have scored 28 times and that's the best in the league.
"In the Dutch league, I expect Feyenoord to win the title."
Babos is also relishing his impending return to Hungary as Feyenoord take on Ferencvaros in the group phase of the Uefa Cup.
The 30-year-old is not expecting any trouble when the two sets of supporters meet up.
He added: "It's true that, like Ferencvaros in Hungary, Feyenoord are the most popular team in the Netherlands and, undisputedly, our supporters are fanatics.
"Since I've been here, I haven't experienced any affray. Therefore, Hungary shouldn't be afraid of our 'famous' fans.
"By the way, I support Ferencvaros as well and I wish that both clubs could qualify from the group."
