Ten-man Sporting seal win

Sporting Lisbon came from behind to seal a 2-1 win over Feyenoord.

Sporting Lisbon came from behind to seal a 2-1 win over Feyenoord in the first leg of their Uefa Cup first round knockout clash.

The 2002 winners started brightly at The Jose Alavlade - the venue for this year's final - and took the lead after just seven minutes.

The goal came after a mistake form Anderson Polga, which was latched upon by Bart Goor who fired past Ricardo in the home goal.

It took Sporting less than ten minutes to level matters as Newcastle loanee Hugo Viana caused havoc in the Feyenoord area and Rogerio was on hand to force the ball over the line after Custodio failed to oblige.

Liedson (pictured) then put Sporting ahead nine minutes before the interval when he fired home after being set-up by Ricardo Sa Pinto.

Sporting were forced to finish the game with ten-men when Custodio received his second yellow card just after the hour, but the Portuguese giants managed to maintain their advantage.

Despite being behind, Feyenoord do have the all important away goal and Ruud Gullit's men will be confident of succeeding in the return leg at De Kuip next week.

The winners of the clash will face Graz or Middlesbrough in the last 16.
