The midfielder looked to have played his last game in Feyenoord colours some time ago, as he was discarded by Ruud Gullit and farmed out on loan to RKC.
He proved a key figure for RKC under Erwin Koeman and his appointment as the successor to Gullit at De Kuip has handed Schreuder fresh hope.
Koeman expects Schreuder to return for pre-season training next month and fight for a place in Rotterdam.
"Alfred is a good footballer and the property of Feyenoord," Koeman told Voetbal International. "For this reason I expect him to return for training on July 2."
RKC, meanwhile, are bracing themselves for the exit of Ferdi Elmas.
The 20-year-old forward has made a positive impression at RKC, which has led to interest from Turkish side Rizespor.
