Salomon Kalou says he is considering representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup.Salomon Kalou has admitted he is frustrated at being played out on the wing for Feyenoord, while he has also revealed he is considering representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
Kalou, younger brother of Paris Saint Germain star Bonaventure, burst onto the scene as a striker last season but is being asked to play on the wing by coach Erwin Koeman.
The youngster feels his talents are being wasted on the wing and is eager to be restored to the middle.
"I don't like that position," Kalou told BN/DE Stem. "And from that side I also score less.
"I'm at my best if I play in the middle, my style and reactions are aimed at that.
"Scoring from the sides is more difficult, there is more needed to obtain a good position in front of goal.
"Right through the heart of the defence I'm much more dangerous."
Kalou also admits he is unsure of his future as an international player.
The forward is waiting on a ruling over his eligibility for Dutch citizenship, which would qualify him to play for the Netherlands, but has admitted he is attracted by the prospect of playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup finals.
"All the people I love are in the Ivory Coast, everybody I know there tells me to play for our country in the World Cup," he revealed.
"That makes the decision harder."
