Ebbinge signs new deal

HEERENVEEN defender Arjan Ebbinge has agreed a new two-year contract to stay with De Eredivisie outfit.

Ebbinge was out of contract in the summer and had been tipped to quit the club due to his lack of regular first team action.

He had spent time on trial in England with Wimbledon and there was plenty of interest in the defender but he has opted to remain with Foppe de Haan's side until 2004.

One Heerenveen player who has headed for the exit door, albeit temporarily, is Norwegian midfielder Thomas Holm, who has joined BVO Veendam on loan.

Veendam, meanwhile, have announced that they have acquired the services of Emmen striker Paul Weerman for next season.

Weerman will move to Veendam on a free transfer in the summer after Emmen's financial crisis meant they could not afford to hand their top scorer a new contract.
