After Den Bosch finished bottom of De Eredivisie, van de Laak had been keen to leave the club to ensure he could still play in the top flight.
Van de Laak had been a product of the Den Bosch youth academy and had a trio of clubs on his trail.
Heerenveen and RKC Waalwijk had also been keen on the 22-year-old but Groningen's offer proved the most tempting.
Den Bosch accepted a é¼500,000 bid from Groningen for the attacking midfielder and personal terms were quickly thrashed out.
The promising schemer has signed a four-year contract and will look to help Groningen improve upon their 12th place in the table.
