VITESSE SPEED BACK TO TOP

VITESSE returned to the top of the Eredivisie with a close fought 3-2 win over Roda JC on Tuesday, although Feyenoord have two games in hand on the Arnhem side.

Victor Sikora got the only goal of the first half, midway through it as his cool finish in the 22nd minute made it 1-0 to Vitesse at half-time.

The visitors came out for the second half looking to finish the game off and seemed to have done so when Mamadou Zongo netted in the 53rd minute to give Vitesse a seemingly impregnable 2-0 lead.

However, Yannis Anastasiou gave Roda hope with a goal on the hour only to see Michel Kreek restore the two goal advantage just nine minutes later.

Anastasiou got his second of the game with two minutes to go, but it did not set up a frantic finish and Vitesse managed to hold out for the win and to return to the top with 32 points, one clear of Feyenoord.
