The defender recently admitted he would consider a move to England if the chance arose, but it now seems as if he will be heading for sunnier climes.
Vrede has told Roda that he will not sign an extension to his present contract, which is due to expire next summer, so the Kerkrade side are determined to receive a fee rather than lose him on a Bosman.
The two clubs are currently in talks, and Vrede expects to have some news when he returns from his summer break.
He said: "I am having a week away before the league starts.
"I will be told when the two clubs have agreed on a fee and, if they do, I expect a contract with AEK will not be far away."
The 29-year-old impressed during Roda`s impressive European run last term, with Rangers just one team that showed an interest.
It would seem, though, that he is set to move to Greece rather than Britain.
