A mini soap opera could be written about the powerful defender`s summer, with untold transfers falling through.
He was initially set for a move to Shakhtar Donetsk, only for the team`s owners to decide the player would be better served by turning out for their sister club.
Vrede decided he did not fancy a move to Metalurg, and promptly returned to Holland claiming a transfer to his former club RKC Waalwijk was on the cards.
Although RKC are still in the frame to land his signature, Iraklis expressed interest over the weekend and lodged a bid.
Greece would appear to be an appealing destination for the 29-year-old, but Roda may scupper any deal by demanding a fee increase.
Technical manager Wim Vrosch told Limburgs Dagblad: "It's some way from being complete, because Iraklis don't want to pay the price we want for Vrede."
The Greek transfer window closes on Tuesday, meaning negotiations will have to be conducted swiftly if a deal is to be thrashed out.
