Arouna Kone has pledged his immediate future to Roda by signing a new deal.Arouna Kone has pledged his immediate future to Roda JC by signing a new deal with the Limburg club.
The Ivory Coast striker has proved a key figure for Roda since arriving at the club from Lierse in the summer of 2003.
Kone caught the eye of Ajax last summer and a deal had been agreed before being scrapped on medical grounds.
It was claimed Ajax halted the deal as they believed Kone had a heart complaint, although he was cleared to play shortly afterwards and has had a productive season for Roda.
The player could well be the subject of interest in the summer, but Kone has pledged to stay in Kerkrade for one more season after signing a deal which ties him to the club until the summer of 2008.
The new deal will in all probability secure Roda a transfer fee, as Kone has indicated he will look to further his career after one final season with the club.
